A Little Coffee, A Lotta Jesus

I remember at the beginning of the year, when we were still growing in our relationship with Beaverdam Elementary School, I met with the principal and her team and said, “We’d love to bring coffee and breakfast to your staff meeting!”
They looked at me with kind eyes and said, “Sure, we’d love some coffee.”
Not overwhelmed. Not underwhelmed. Just… whelmed. 😂
When we showed up, several teachers came up to me and said, “I heard a church was bringing coffee. I figured it was just Dunkin’, so I made mine at home.”
But we showed up with a full coffee cart from Unhinged Coffee, and suddenly everyone was a little more excited about this church thing.
Fast forward to this week, and we did it again.
And when I tell you these amazing teachers were genuinely excited to see us, I mean it. There were so many smiles, hugs, thank-yous, and “KUMC is back!” moments. The coffee was a hit (extra thanks to Cold Brew Cantina for helping make it happen!), Anita’s homemade scones disappeared, and the whole building seemed a little more full of joy, connection, and love.
It reminded me of one of my absolute favorite lines that Jesus ever spoke. While teaching about believing and trusting him, he says, “I came to give you life, and give it to you in abundance” - John 10:10.
Jesus desires not only that we have life someday, but that our everyday lives would be filled with the fullness of life.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. If you gave your time, baked something, donated, pushed a coffee cart, or simply helped make this ministry possible, you made an impact on some really important lives this week.
Your generosity generates more love, connection, and joy than you will probably ever know.
And that, friends, feels a whole lot like abundant life. ❤️
From my heart, Rev. Steph Margeson
