A Letter to the Church:
Preparing the Ground Together

Dear Church Family,

As we look toward 2026, we want to share an update about where our church is headed and invite you into the next season of our life together.

For more than a year now, members of our Transition Team have faithfully and prayerfully explored possibilities for land and buildings for our church’s future. This has not been easy work. It has involved patience, learning, discernment, and moments of real struggle. We are deeply grateful for the time, care, and commitment they have given in service to this congregation.

After continued prayer and discernment, we have decided to pause our active search for land or a new building during the coming year.

This decision is not a rejection of the work that has been done, nor is it a loss of hope for a future home. Rather, it is a faithful response to where we believe God is leading us now. Scripture reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). Before we move forward with a physical structure, we believe God is inviting us to attend carefully to the spiritual work of becoming.

The coming year will be a season of visioning—listening for who God is shaping us to be and how we are called to love our neighbors and our community. We'll do this with the guidance of a coach we're actively interviewing for. When the time comes to move toward a building again, we want that decision to grow out of clarity, unity, and shared purpose, rather than pressure or urgency.

Alongside this discernment, we are also making an important leadership shift. Beginning in 2026, our church will move to a single Board of leadership consisting of 9 members of our congregation. This change is meant to help us spend less energy on administration and more energy on mission and ministry. A simpler leadership structure allows us to focus our hearts and efforts on worship, discipleship, outreach, and care. We'll look forward to celebrating and praying for these individuals at the start of the new year.

This season is not about waiting idly. It is about preparing the ground.

For each of us, this is an invitation to participate in concrete ways:

  • Pray regularly for our church’s vision, leadership, and future.

  • Worship faithfully, grounding ourselves together in God’s presence.

  • Serve where your gifts meet the needs of the church and community.

  • Invite others to join you in worship and fellowship.

  • Give generously, trusting that God uses our shared faithfulness to grow something lasting.

Every act of participation—seen or unseen—helps shape the future we are moving toward together.

Waiting can be difficult, especially when hopes are high. Yet Scripture also reminds us, “Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). We trust that God is at work in this season, preparing us for what comes next.

Thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your faithfulness. We are grateful for this church and hopeful for what God is growing among us.

With gratitude and hope,

Steph Margeson - Pastor

John Ward - Chair, Administrative Council

Terri Higgins - Chair, Transition Team
